Sophie has just composed the music for Bola Agbaje's new play Off the Endz at the Royal Court theatre in London. Here's what Sophie has to say about the music:
"Musically I’m developing something that reflects the vicious circles of life for the characters ‘on the endz’. It’s cyclical music out of which it’s hard to find a breaking point... The music serves as a touchpoint in the piece – something that we keep coming back to – mirroring the unraveling that occurs, juxtaposing rhythmic kalimba and trumpet with edgier textures that subvert the harmony of the status quo."
